I Remember You

Time seems to slip and slide away;
another night, another day - they build
the weeks and months and years
upon a bed of tears that come undone
each time the skies decide to cry for them.
Yet time itself can never mend their ever
aching hearts; for all the love that came to
them, remains back in the days of their
departure from the ways of rain, and earth
that speaks so silently within a starlit wind.

Sun pours itself through everything, while
they decide to feel the strain instead; stiffening
to prove that they will never let it in. A dreamy
state of reverie is waiting just for them; enveloping
their hearts and souls as they walk around the bend.
A stumbling occurs, and in the fall they lose it all -
the carefully prepared defenses that they thought
they held so tight around them. A scent within
the breeze brings loving memories to them in
living streams that they cannot deny as true.

"I remember you..." they whisper secretly.
"Your feel, your scent, your starry eyes,
the heaven you and I created blossoming
within each touch of flesh on flesh. And oh,
the way we used to kiss..." And they wonder
how it was they ever came to let that go. "The
cold was never really cold at all when you
were here; and heat became a warmth of
spirit's fire." What bent of mind could ever
replace this, the feel of happiness divine?

Time seems to slip and slide away;
another night, another day - they build
the weeks and months and years
upon a bed of tears that come undone
each time the skies decide to cry for them,
and the decisions they had come to, for no
more than just a sense of someone else's
ought to be. Yet time itself can never mend
their ever aching hearts; for all the love
that came to them, remains back in the days
of their departure from the ways of rain
and earth that speaks so silently of love's eternity,
still flowing in a starlit wind, and them...
