Shadow Dark

A picture frame of fiery red takes flight
as if inspired by a sudden burst of light.
Shadow-dark, a stark and lonely figure
starts to stir, sensing something other
drawing near.

A ring of light, a burst of wings, and
suddenly the angel starts to sing.
Sweet and sad, its tone resounds,
surrounding and then calming the
chaotic swell of life becoming real.

And so they come to sense each other,
somewhere deep inside; the dark and light
of life made into being. A hum, a step,
and colors start to rise between the
essence of this long-held separation.

The chasm is shrinking; the gap growing
smaller - slowly, over eons of unknowns; as
mystery redeems a state of utter fascination.
Eye to eye, they sense the truth at last;
for there within a sense of growing clarity,
they see themselves anew in this reflection.

Light met dark, and night met day.
Love and hate began to play. There
weren't any rules. While every sense of
innocence just hung there,
in the balance of it all...
