Out of Sight

The more they knew,
the less they really cared.
The vulture hid the truth
within its stare.

Patiently awaiting
yet another gory treat.
Oblivious to thirst
in that great heat.

To focus on the twilight of a life.
Stars fading in the darkness of pure space.
The moon became invisible.
The sunlit glare was hidden, out of sight.

The energy was dwindling
and being swept away.
Moisture was sequestered
from the role it used to play.

The more they knew,
the less they really cared.
The vulture hid the truth
within its stare.

A silent sigh. A lullaby.
Another spirit soaring
out of sight...
