Unuttered Tone

The thunder came, the lightning crashed
It's quiet, in the aftermath
Gently then, the sky will weep
Tender tears upon the window panes
(Unuttered tone of our defeat)

The grass is growing, green and strong
Flowers blooming, leaves abound
And yet there's something other
that absorbs the joy of spring
(Shadowlands absorb the light of day)

Morning came, but not the sun
Gloom enveloped everyone
Right and wrong have never
found a home in life and time.
(Why do you sigh...?)

Shock and sorrow, anger, war
Explosions on a distant shore
Live in fear, and hide yourself away
Just make it through another day
(Where nothing ever changes
for the better)

Chemical response endured
Anything, to ease the growing fear
The atmosphere is quivering
The angels lone and shivering
(Oh guardians of love,
why do you weep?)

Anger spent, the gloom descends again
The thunder came, the lightning crashed
It's quiet, in the aftermath
Gently now, the sky is weeping
Tender tears upon our window panes
(Apathy - and then the song is gone)

Stormy days, impassioned nights
Rise again and take to flight
Never try to understand
Those feelings of despair
(The angels, they are weeping
now for you)

The storm subsides, the tears abide
Waiting for another front to fall
Depression is the new age of disease
Chemicals repeat the same experiments again
(Heart and soul, unmended
in the unamended feelings of control)

Slipping - all the many strings
Are slipping through your fingers
One by one, the many are set free
Hands grasp no more than emptiness
The smooth façade is cracked and aching
(Even air cannot abide the clench)

The thunder came, the lightning crashed
It's quiet, in the aftermath
Gently then, the sky will weep
Tender tears upon the window panes
(Unuttered love is waiting
just for you...)
