A Moment Here

A sadness lurks within her weary eyes.
Wondering just when she ought to die.
Realizing that she has a choice in even this.
Yet amid the pain and ecstasy, the feel of
love is flowing constantly. And this she
never wants to leave at all.

A moment here, a moment there.
A brightness in her lulling stare.
Energy runs through her once again.
Emotional in nature and akin
to what her life was all about.

Observe - the sentience lurking
just behind her eyes of innocence.
Knowing even what she never learned.
Wisdom comes to those who earn its truth.
She wants me there, and yet I cannot stay.
And so she waits - to die or live or give
another damn.

She founders as she tries to form a sentence.
Pretending that she doesn't hear you speak.
Then suddenly, her wit returns and reaches
deep inside your tenderness. Errant tears
will suddenly be shining on her cheek.
As another endless memory begins
to speak to her. More and more, she lingers
in that other world of being. Where spirits
find a way to love it all.

A moment here, a moment there.
A brightness in her lulling stare.
Energy runs through her once again.
Emotional in nature and akin
to what her life was all about.
Slow but sure, the endless doubts
are leaving her content.

I know she needs to reach beyond it all.
The large, the small, the mediocre.
She needs to fly in freedom past the skies.
Just as I still need to fly in mine...
