Blind Intellect

Blind intellect that smothers soul.
A downside to the growing whole.
Rock and roll become too hard to hear.
Past the line where passion turned
into another loving attitude.

Need and want and deep desire.
Fires burning out of their control.
Raw sexuality, left unrefined.
Control that never eased
their troubled minds.

Powered by a rush of hours.
Running from the real.
Where balance still exudes
its great appeal. What good
is real that never stops to feel
itself alive in love again...?

Hiding in the shade of towering trees.
The forest still remembered harmony.
Bound into the earth by roots
that ever set them free.
Free to bend and break and be reborn.
Free to sway within the endless wind.

There, the vows were simplified,
and love became a purified indulgence.
Emptied of the stress of congregations.
One on one, they found the truth again.
It never was a matter of amends.
Intention was the root of all they felt.

Indulgence brought the heat of melting down.
Just when the colors changed the threads
of every newborn dawn. Vision could be
contradictory. To feel the truth of all
that human eyes had never seen, became
the best and worst that life could bring.

To utter thoughts in silence and yet know
that they were heard. Subliminal, the influence
that swam through all they heard within their heads.
Thoughts of life and death that rarely sought
the in between. One moment of forever found
within the here and now. Denying that it is eternity.

Blind intellect that smothers soul.
A downside to the growing whole.
Rock and roll become too hard to hear.
Past the line where passion turned
into another loving attitude.
Deep, the beat of anger lashing out.
A heated source found only in revenge.

A startled voice that cries out in the night,
so full of dreams - that screams itself
awake by hatred's scorn. Abandoned
early on, they never came to know
the feel of safe and warm. It mattered not
to them, the swift divisions. When all they
felt still led them into miles of derision.

And intellect that stands alone is surely
bound just there. Within unholy heat
that only shatters as it stares at all the life
it might have felt in loving times. But now,
the fear of death is all they ever really reach.
War-mongers seeking power; never knowing
how to teach a growing child of tenderness.

White, the light of powerful confusion.
Yours or mine or ours...? Will merely human
will prevail? Or computer oriented viruses
come to destroy the lives we've built?
So short - the span of plans that only kill.
But oh, the endless hues of rainbow glory.
Falling through the skylights of their minds.
If only they would take the time to note
the cycles moving through eternity -
and them...
