Focus on You

They focus on you and the feeling swells.
Horrific - how the demons dwell within
the thoughts they send. They turn around
and call themselves your friend. Heat of fire
blasting ice. Once, then twice, then thrice.

Judas, reborn in their minds. Myths
that always leave them blind to all the best
that could have been made real. Focusing
the power of their minds. Claiming innocence
for all the crimes that they commit. Taking all
the caring out of time.

Hoarding gold and jewels like a dragon
in a cave. Stealing all the meaning
from their lives. The heart, so wise,
imprisoned in the castle walls that
grew too thin to hold the feeling there,
inside of them.

Clocks tick away the hours' chime.
The rhythm's lost within the rhyme.
The feelings, left unguided, blend
into a haze of real offense. Infecting
everything within its range.

Seconds growing into minutes.
Days and nights that can't diminish
all the pain still waiting to be felt.
They cannot walk away and yet
they never learned the way
to make it right.

Invisible, the unexpected
guest walks in the door.
Jarred awake, they make up
their excuses. For all the times
they used another's heart.
For stealing other's energy
to start another scheme.

The dream was growing
stronger everyday.
They couldn't work.
They wouldn't play.
The nights and days
were tearing them apart.

Then they focus on you and the feeling swells.
Horrific - how the demons dwell within
the thoughts they send. They turn around
and call themselves your friend. Heat of fire
blasting ice. You try to steal away within
the billowing of steam. But no matter where
you go, their focus finds a way
to fall back into you...
