It Went On

And it went on.
Spinning through the universe.
Creating love that could not be rehearsed.
Expanding and demanding that we change.
Then shrinking back into the nothingness.
Becoming yet another memory
of all we used to dream that we could be.

And it went on.
Weeping through its lost eternity.
Raging at the changing chemistry.
Sleeping in the deep of its exhaustion.
Dreaming of the loss of ecstasy.
Reaching out and touching close.
Infinity that never quite comes real.

Yet it went on.
Within the beating of their hearts.
And more, within their souls.
Ever seeking, seldom finding
moments when the whole
reached into them...
