Less Than Just a Season

She felt him physically torn from her.
By someone else's choice. Even though
she'd never know the many reasons why.
And nothing would ever be the same again.
Except the shame she felt, in falling
for his lies that claimed a loving future,
waiting just for them.
A thrift of hurried days turned into
less than just a season. While all the
reasons why were hid in him. And then,
in turn, he left her there. More all alone than
ever she had been before he came.
For he had isolated her with just his touch.
And damned her to his living hell,
where trust could not be found.
While he refused to break the bond.
Haunting her, as if the pain he felt
must be her own. Cold and cruel,
he never felt it there. Hiding behind
walls erected long before she'd
come into his life. Bowing down
to those he deemed to have authority.
Less than just a season,
all the loving without reason.
She suffered and she died
of all the loss he chose to leave
to her...
