Lying Again

The innocent voice was lying again.
Practiced tones of little angel almost brought to tears.
A single drop came rolling down the aging cheek he wore.
But she believed. Remembering the moments
when a little one was in her arms.
When life was filled with so much joy it sang.
The crimes committed sank into
the deep of weighted space and he was there,
just for a moment out of time.

Now time was running out.
The lies had been made real.
She knew he wouldn't feel it when she died.
No matter how she tried, he blocked her out.
He was insufferably oblique
now that she really needed him.
She called his name and found his chosen
distance waiting in between.
Until she finally found a way to let him go.
Taking wing into eternity...
