Moving Through

Moving through the battlefields of men.
They'd lost their way again when darkness fell.
The promised glory knelt within a gory alleyway.
Screaming at the feelings that would never go away.
Visions of the dead and wounded flashed
across a screen of inner scapes.

The velvet and the lace were torn and tattered.
She wondered why they ever thought it mattered.
Beings slayed while things were held on high.
Gold encrusted fantasies that never reached the skies.
Heavily, the gloom was seeping deep into the mind.
Hitler-ish, the seeds of bioethics were enshrined.

Where was it that it all had gone so wrong...?
Twists and turns, the labyrinthine depths
that used to hold their songs of love.
Entering upon another era full of power.
Seconds, minutes, hours built to nothing
more than endless grand finales.

Welcome here, the death that eases pain.
Stand out in the pouring rain and feel
yourself alive. A rush of wind, the flush
of sin. They'd never lived within the feel
or essence of intent. Complexity rewriting
every script of sweet and simple days of love.

Could one alone escape the greed of utter violence?
Desire cast into the wrong they'd done.
Fun was not a memory. It melted in the acid
of the batteries of horror stories told. Be bold,
and know yourself as their next target. Withhold
and find your flesh invaded. Stainless steel,
so blessed within the sickness of the cleanliness
still blamed on deity. Enter, the hypocrisy
of war and chemotherapy. The macro and
the micro mirrored there.

Moving through the battlefields of men.
They'd lost their way again when darkness fell.
The promised glory knelt within a gory alleyway.
Screaming at the feelings that would never go away.
Visions of the dead and wounded flashed
across a screen of inner scapes.

Wasted - all the love that might have been...
