Never Really

Wanting to believe the world
is only right and good. Seeking
just one other soul that feels
the way they do. Quivering
within a moment of eternity.

Fear within the wave that overtakes them.
Tears that feed the fires of sorrow given.
Taking in the other end, they lapse into regression.
Then toss and turn all through the lonely night.
Searching for a memory of light and happy days.

Drifting back, their memories deceive them.
For what they knew back then was never heaven.
Rather, what they didn't know was happily ignored.
Out of very human curiosity, somehow
their hearts had reached a point of no return.
To drain it dry, then feel the ocean
fill itself in them again.
Such idioms have never come from men.

Wanting to believe the world
is only right and good. Seeking
just one other soul that feels
the way they do. Quivering -
one moment of pure clarity arrives.
Love never really had to die at all...
