Paranoid

Paranoid. The rhythms change.
Awful thoughts race through the brain.
As if a spy were staring down your neck.
Misty moods and haunted brooding.
Desperate, the explanations came.
The world would never seem the same again.

Psychotic tides that swell and rise.
Crashing down into the eyes.
A flare, and then the fire takes control.
Sizzling electric through the nerves.
A pop. A hiss. The demon's kiss.
A burning brand they'd never understand.

Will enthralled, they tried to hide away.
The others still insisted that they play.
Friends turned into enemies.
The family ties were snapped.
Invisible, the beating of a strap.
Scarred silence slithering again into their ears.
When all that they could feel became a fear.

Sensing things that weren't there.
A presence that would move your hair.
Swirls of changing color that would cry.
Lightning flashing through a clear blue sky.
Moisture falling up. They knew not why.
Spinning round in spiraled alibis.

Paranoid. The rhythms change.
Alpha waves race through the brain.
As if a god were staring down your neck.
Misty moods and haunted brooding.
Desperate, the explanations came.
The world would never seem the same again...
