Sadness Lurking

There is a sadness lurking
in the growing pain and fear.
Eternal echelons are drawing near.
Loss cannot be countered
by another buying spree.
There are times when tears
are all that we can be.

Why do you cry, oh mother mine?
The skies are full of rain.
"To ease the pain of man, my child.
Still prisoners of instincts wild.
To let them see the flowing
can be free."

Her earnest sigh became a fresher breeze.
A healing among their dread disease.
The balm of yet another gentle touch.
Her raindrops easing into spring
to ring the birth of love
into their hearts.

There is a sadness lurking there
within their pain and fear.
Eternal echelons are drawing near.
Loss cannot be countered
by another buying spree.
There are times when tears
are still the best of all
that we can be...
