I went shopping today.
Not something I really wanted to do.
But I'd put it off for as long as I could.
I only bought one item.
A dress for my mother to wear into eternity.
(Did I tell you then, how close she is to dying...?)

It had to be just right, you see.
For she'd be wearing it in heaven.
Store to store, I hemmed and hawed.
It had to have some sparkle, just like her.
I couldn't picture her within a coffin.
Not for this. I had to see her at her happiest.

Some may say I went astray.
The glitters in a hue of royal blue.
A glimpse of youth, abiding still, in her.
And now, amid the tears, I see her -
dancing there, in heaven...
