Slated

Restless, as if sitting in the shadows
born of light. Quivering, his wings
refused to take another flight.
Sun and wind, the moon and stars -
that wishing done so far away
from what he knew as home.

Restless, needing motion to conceive
another round of that creative energy.
And suddenly, the move seemed
somehow different from the rest.
As if some higher power put
his repetitions to the test
of happiness received.

Restless, almost changing, but
not quite. The quality and quantity
of unknown darkness - how could it
be more than the bright of light he knew...?
Within the well, a depth of feelings stirred.
Twenty-twenty vision, yet his sight
was somehow blurred.

Restless, seeking something more
of life and love beyond the wars of man.
Yet trembling within the peace received.
It seemed to be more of an apathy.
As habits lingered on and on and on.
While life itself was teetering upon
another unknown brink of change.

Impact. And emotions swell.
As if the ardent wishing well
no longer could rely on just a wish.
Endless waves were crashing
on the shores of their beliefs.
Unaltered by the striving of
their will. Swept away, he had
to find another way to keep
it living on.

Back into survival space,
where animals refused the grace
of care that once seemed given.
The lions roared. The sheep
were lost upon the shattered shore.
The raging waves became
the newly risen power of deranged.

Insane, the warriors saw red.
A nightmare that became the bed
of all of their worst fears. Deny
the tears and keep it raging on.
A man must not give in to any
slightest burrow of emotion.
And yet the deluge swept him
far away from that great essence
of bright days.

The rising kept on falling down
before it reached the tender crown.
While routed anger won another
crazy victory. Even as the loss
was thus retained. The silver lining
turned to black just then. The clouds
would never know the essence of the
evermore of that, the pouring rain.
And still, the pain kept living on and on.

Restless, as if sitting in the shadows
born of light. Quivering, his wings
refused to take another flight.
Sun and wind, the moon and stars,
that wishing done so far away
from what he knew as home.

And still it shone, the moon and stars.
The sun was startling. For Mother Earth
was never just a thing. Amid the pondering,
she brings all feeling back to life. Slated
for the skating through - of love and nights
that live beyond the will's ungiving platitudes.
Inept, the words that blur the borders there.
Restless, as if sitting in the shadows
born of yet another tinted hue of light...
