Still Repeating

Raped by his lies.
Unhinged within the skies.
A dragon of gold
saw the tales of old
still repeating.

A quiet space.
Some breathing room.
Every thought lost in the gloom.
The dark a welcomed, empty place.
Without thought, emotions remained stable.

Memories flew far away.
It was as if the day would wait forever.
Dawn lost amid the misery of after.
Remembering the innocence of trust.
Meditation gleaming in stardust.

A present moment, opening
into the evermore. Empowering
the weave of magic dreaming
to endure. Patterns searching
for a better nature. Beauty bent
and warped by fires rising
from the core.

A sudden shift. The flames were
licking hungrily inside. He'd touched
her in a way that only lovers ever should.
Promised to another in a bargain.
Reaching through the mists as if in pain.
If only it would rain, perhaps the pressure
might be eased again.

Miles away, she stared into the distance.
Knowing that he thought of her again.
Bittersweet, the smile she wept.
Tasting salty tears run down her face.
Where once she'd found the grace of life
astoundingly, now all that she could see
was empty space. Filled with things
that could not feel at all.

Unearthed, the love that sheltered her
had faltered. All that was left was
just the morning after he had left.
And all the pain of love's abandonment.
Silver-white, a bird in flight - she flew.
Away from what the others thought they knew.

Raped by his lies.
Unhinged within the skies.
A dragon of gold
saw the tales of old
still repeating...
