Abandon Ship

Where the links have gone astray.
Carried to the brink of a disaster.
Cut the cord. Abandon ship.
Put ice on your bruised upper lip.
Save yourself and float away.
The captain doesn't give a damn today.
Listen as the leak, the drip
becomes a constant agony.
Like a constant interruption
of the best of fantasies.
Pressure building. Fed by irritation.
Linked into what once was a moderation.
Seeking out a moment's peace.
Speeding into blind relief.
Experiencing no more than
that expedient final score.
The bottom line is drawing closer.
You really need to find some closure.
The door is stuck on open
and the locks are rusted out.
Breath blowing through the windows.
as the aliens invade your precious dreams.
At the point of no return.
Here, the endless fires burn.
The nightmare lives into the day.
The links have really gone astray.
Pushed unto the brink of a disaster.
Cut the cord. Abandon ship.
Put ice on your bruised upper lip.
Save yourself and float away.
The captain doesn't give a damn today...
