Two lovers walking in the park.
Hand in hand, as lightning split the sky.
Stormy winds that howled in rhythm.
Beating out the old phantasms.
Racing for a safety never real.
Reeling amid a sense of fear.
Turned around within the fog.
Stumbling into a bog.
Sinking deep. No air to breathe.
Suffering, with no relief in sight.
Parted by a strength too great to beat.
He left her there. He never dared
to face his ingrown treachery.
Getting high to ease the strain
of all the pain he caused.
Leaving on the lights when night fell hard.
In retrospect, deceiving his own heart.
With his designs of light
entwined within the dark...
