That Night

The silence sings, remembering
The strength of gentle touch
The aftermath of lust
once born of love

Beyond the mountains
moonlight strayed
In and out, the cycles played
in cordial windswept ways

Bringing, then withholding rain
until the very grasses strained
to find relief from too much heat
Then suddenly - release

Thunder roaring
Slash of light
Clouds opening beyond the sight
of veiled starlit fantasy

It all came down to you and me
that night...
