Too Close

I must not linger there.
Else danger will arise
from that sharp look
in his wife's eyes.
Why does he tease me so...?
When he knows I know
full well his reputation.
Too close. Too close.
His energy is passing over.
I run to hide beneath the covers.
He follows even there.
Phrasing his request as kind.
When attack is all he has in mind.
Touching close. I swear and scream.
He tells me it is just a dream.
Oh, the lies such phantoms tell.
Going back to live within
his cave beside the well.
Gossamer, strands sparkling.
Life goes on, the spider spins
his shroud...
