A Breath of Air

I step outside
for just a breath of air
and the scent of freshness
carried on the wind
sets my spirit free

for the wind speaks
of mountain peaks
floating high above
the level of the sea

and yet the ocean frees
the soul as well
its siren call
drifting with the wind
blowing round the bends
of solitude
transcending every mood
that used to be
the silence of the fantasy
of one alone

I stepped outside
to catch a breath of air
and I swear an angel fair
came here to me
for now I ride a wave of ecstasy

touched and touching
essence of the wholeness
of all life
