Begin to Mourn

Startling, the thunder issues forth
demanding all attention
as it seeds the clouds
with promises
of every new tomorrow

Rain comes pouring down
as lightning hisses
striking out at anything
that dares stand in its way
clashing with the ordinary
everyday we cling to
so addictively

and change remains
the only surety
as troubled skies
begin to mourn
the loss of yesterday

yet in this letting go
the hope of all that's beautiful
at last comes into play
for love lies in the interplay
of every paradox . . .
