Contained Enclosure

Chilly, damp, wind-blown dreariness
envelopes this part of the world today

yet here, inside, is warmth
and light the sun just cannot bring right now
as autumn approaches
the midpoint of its cycle

the comfort of an overstuffed chair
the warmth of a dear friend's thoughts
the peace that comes
of not needing anything more than this

contained enclosure of safety
womb-like
yet built by the hands of man
to protect
and comfort
and nurture

creation
within and without

man and woman - need each other
to know the world
complete
