Bittersweet, this letting go
as feelings of freedom and
loss
at once accost the senses
Shall we cry or shall we sing
or will this silence bring
its own reward?
Where once we moved in harmony
in sync with rhythms deeper
yet so much higher than our
own
now the width of distance
spans
a gulf that seems unbridgeable
Where once we loved
now the many trivialities
of life
have intervened
while the many dreams we dreamed
fade more and more
into the mists of memory
Where once desire flamed
and the heat of hearts untamed
brought intimate and timeless
moments
now inhibitions keep their
senseless guard
as if to love might now retard
our movements on this path
of life
Bittersweet, this letting go
as a feel of freedom and of
loss
at once accost the senses
Must your freedom come
at such a cost as this . .
