I watch one love
I thought was true
walk into the arms
of yet another lover
leaving me with only pain
to recompose
and yet I see the world come
alive
with springtime energy
and feel a gentle touch
of beauty start to soothe
the jagged, ragged pieces
of my soul
for my heart, that once felt
whole
has been shattered by the
power
of yet another dose of love's
denial
I wish upon a lost and lonely
star
and I wonder why I'm left
to cry alone
It feels as if a stone
or perhaps a piece of jaded
granite
were weighing down my soul
that only wants to flow
in love's embrace
So I wish upon a star
yet once again
this wish born long ago
in innocence of heart
that I might find my one true
love
and at last begin to make
these dreams come true . .
