Turning Point

The turning point
it always comes
when it seems that love has just begun
instead we drift so far apart
we break the bond of heart to heart

at first, the shock, as numbness steals
the good from all we saw as real
and then the anger and the pain
pour through me like endless rain

inundating every moment found
leaving only silence, in place of rhythmic sound
of two hearts beating, one on one
yet the separation, once begun

becomes an abyss, deep and wide
where so many broken hearts reside

and so the time has come
for me to move away from you
as I hear the gentle hum
of a resonance that's true

it calls to me upon the wind
while grace that heals descends
to save me from the pain that you projected
and with this grace, my soul is resurrected

as I turn and walk away
in the darkness that precedes the day
good-bye, my friend, I must let go
to move within the flow

of love, of life, of heart's belief
and my soul sighs, in relief…
