Unraveling Illusions

One by one, she cut them down to size
these ghosts of numinous dimensions
unraveling illusions of the mind
But now what would she find?

For so long, their specters haunted her
deep within the dark of night
and even in bright sunlit days
that could have been of laughter and of play

and now she searched
the eerie shadows moving
for that one last fear
that kept illusions near

and found a child inside
so lost and so alone
crying out in pain and loneliness
and she cradled this poor child upon her breast

and offered comfort
and all the love she never knew
came pouring out as this child grew
into herself
