A Winter Night

Winter - like my discontent
cold, alone, unseen
frozen - how can I repent
for something that Iíve never been

How to warm a heart in pain?
time goes by and sun grows near
How to open and regain
the love beneath the fear?

Enclosing wall that, brick-by-brick
was built by hurt gone by
so one-by-one, as timepiece ticks
I must remove what I deny

The pain protects a heart grown weak
encircling the very center
in dreams, in sleep, the pain will speak
and bid my lover enter
